Hennepin Ave Reconstruction (ends 2025)
The City Roadway construction continues. This work includes roadway grading, sanitary and storm sewer work, water service replacement, and concrete work. Both Lake St and Lagoon are reduced to 1-lane through the intersections. Utility work continues north of 27th St. New concrete curb and sidewalk work will continue. Bridge modification work will continue on the
bridge over the Midtown Greenway.

Roadway & Utility work using heavy equipment will increase noise, vibration, and dust in work areas and sidewalks. Cross streets will at times be reduced to 1-lane. Parking lanes will be closed at certain locations on side streets. Business access will remain open during the construction. Pedestrian detours will be set up as needed. Greater impacts can be expected at intersections where work is occurring. Metro Transit buses will be detoured over to Lyndale Ave via Lake St or 31st & 24th St.

Metro B-Line Lake Street Improvements (ends 2024)

The next stage of mill and overlay work will take place beginning Sept. 9 and will pick up where the previous phase left off, heading west along Lake Street at Bde Maka Ska before turning around and moving east along Lake St. to Lake & Blaisdell. This phase is expected to last 1–2 weeks.

This work involves temporary street limitations or closures, large machines that produce loud grinding noises and beeping, and smoke/odor. This work will start as early as 6 a.m. Crews will work on the street one half at a time, with traffic limited to one lane in each direction during the process.

With early morning work and noise occurring due to mill and overlay work, the B Line project is offering earplugs for neighbors who live near construction and would find them helpful. To receive earplugs, contact bline@metrotransit.org.
