Aug. Community Safety Update

Safety Walks begin Saturday, Aug. 19! Meet 10 AM at the St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church North parking lot (3450 Irving Ave S) for brief remarks before setting off across East Bde Maka Ska.

• Garage burglaries are on the rise across Minneapolis. If you're a driver, please review the City's Garage Safety Tips and remember to lock your car and garage. If you need to purchase home locks or lighting, consider applying for our Home Security Rebate program.

• Neighborhood Block Leaders Wanted! Boundaries have been established and the committee is reviewing general onboarding guidelines this month for Block Leaders. Submissions for volunteer Block Leaders will begin later this month!

• MPD Buy Back Program: As part of recent conversation with our Ward 10 City Council Member Aisha Chugthai, there appears to be a path ahead for a resident Buy Back Program to be in place for our neighborhood; with some pretty significant consequences. We'll debrief on that conversation, those intended and unintended consequences along with next steps at our Aug. 21 Livability Committee meeting.
