Bde Maka Ska Pavilion Opens

Four years after the building burned down, the pavilion on Bde Maka Ska has (finally) reopened! The project features outdoor gathering spaces, improved trails and 51 bike stalls. The building seats 250, has 3,000 sq.ft. of outdoor covered space with ceiling-mounted heaters, and a small stage. It's home to the new Pimento on the Lake restaurant (open seasonally) and Pimento Market (open year-round). Learn more here.

Artists Racquel Banaszak, Summer Sky Cohen, and Jearica Fountain worked collaboratively on the mural.

The pavilion also honors the history of the land, with signs reminding people that this is native land and Indigenous phrases translated into English. A public mural celebrates Native past, present, and future on the lakeshore, blending Native American symbolism with representations of Native people cycling, running, and canoeing across the lake. It serves as the capstone project for this year’s We Are Still Here artists. Learn more about the mural and its artists.
