President's Note
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all who helped make our Annual Meeting a success last week—we built community around concerns, needs and celebration. With your participation, we successfully elected a full Board of eager leaders who will continue to shape and advance our community to great heights in 2024! It's been an honor to serve you all this year and I join the new Board in hopes of continuing that leadership, to build on the wonderful initiatives of 2023.
No matter your availability, length of time in the neighborhood, or whether you're renting or own your home: your gifts are valuable and make a positive impact in our neighborhood. So please consider participating to support us in one of the following ways:
1) Join one of our neighborhood Committees!
Social & Engagement focuses on green issues and fun events where neighbors can connect: Next meeting is Thursday, Nov. 16, 6:30–7:30 PM at Dunn Bros. (3348 Hennepin Ave)
Livability focuses on the built environment, safety and transportation: Next meeting is Monday, Nov. 20, 7–8:30 PM on Zoom
Fundraising & Development designs creative fundraising for the neighborhood: Next meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 28, 6–7:30 PM on Zoom
2) Sign up to volunteer as a Block Captain for your block!
Next info session: Thursday, Dec. 14, 6–7:30 PM at Lake & Irving Restaurant (1513 W Lake St)
3) Attend a Neighborhood Walk!
Mondays: Meet 7 AM at Duet Coffee (1477 W Lake St)
Saturdays: Meet 10 AM at St. Mary's north parking lot (3450 Irving Ave S)
4) Donate to support our organization and initiatives!
We've previously operated exclusively on City funds, but this is no longer the case.
Rolling into the holidays, we know your time and resources are valuable—so it truly means the world to me and the Board (and the neighborhood) to consider us as part of your giving and social plans. We'll be connecting with many of you through the end of the year as we activate plans for 2024.
I hope you embrace the spirit of the holidays, and I hope to see each of you out and about. Whether it's grabbing a holiday beverage, shopping for gifts at a local business, or sharing stories out at one of our many neighborhood eateries. If you see my family and I out, we would love to meet you so don't be a stranger! Take care and happy holidays!
